DANIEL MIRANTE

“Rublev Colours are my colormen of choice for their particular fascination with historic and archival qualities, which I share. Since my work blooms out of an exploration of subtle semi-neutral tones, the range of connoisseur earth pigments that Rublev Colours have created are second to none.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Daniel Mirante is an internationally active painter, explorer and teacher with an interest in symbolism, archetypal psychology. sacred and esoteric art tradition and new forms of art education.

His work appears in several international collections and is represented by MOVA Gallery (International), Phaneros Gallery (US), Galerie10 (Austria), and NAIA Museum (France). His work hangs in churches and temples in the UK and South America. He also embraces new venues of creative expression including Miami Block-Chain Center (US) and leading global culture festivals Burning Man (US), Rainbow Serpent (Australia) and Boom (Europe).

Daniel Mirante was born in the north of the United Kingdom in 1980 and completed a Bachelors with Honors Fine Art Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he studied conceptual and installation art. After his degree he developed an interest in the painter’s tradition.

In 2012, Mirante studied Mischtechnik in Vienna with Ernst Fuchs—founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and teacher of two noted artists of psychedelia, Mati Klarwein and Robert Venosa. Daniel was the master’s last apprentice. Later, he studied with Timea Tallian, a painting restorer and conservator at the Victoria and Albert Museum. This gave him footing in traditional old masters techniques, whilst embracing new technologies as tools of expressing creativity. To additionally supplement his understanding of classical methods, he studied academic sight-size method at the London Atelier of Representational Art.

Daniel believes the circle is complete when experience is transmitted to the next generation. His teaching style is highly regarded by his contemporaries and students. He has taught at the Tobias School of Art Therapy UK where he sought to create linkages between Steiner School style art education and Visionary Art.

He is a founding faculty member and teacher (alongside contemporaries such as Laurence Caruana, Amanda Sage, Kuba Ambrose) with the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art, teaches at the Visions in the Mischtechnik seminars in Italy, pioneered visionary art workshops in Australia, and most recently held workshops with Ainhoa Neith with Visionary Art India.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work focusses on a study of the Quattrocento period of the Italian Renaissance, especially upon artists such as Andrea Mantegna and Giovanni Bellini, who bridged the hieratic (sacred or religious) with humanistic styles of art. I am fascinated by the esoteric language of symbols as found in ancient art and spiritual lineages, and their application in painting as a visual language that can articulate pictorially the archetypes within dreams and visions, and the historical forces that have shaped the contemporary world.

DANIEL MIRANTE ON RUBLEV COLOURS

Rublev Colours are my colormen of choice for their particular fascination with historic and archival qualities, which I share. Since my work blooms out of an exploration of subtle semi-neutral tones, the range of connoisseur earth pigments that Rublev Colours have created are second to none. I take great interest in the precise optical quality of minerals on panel or canvas and enjoy working with paint made by people who have this passion as well as an active interest and investigation into the historical use of such pigments through time. In short, they are a pleasure to use.
